First
Vice-President Artie Leichner commented on the Leading
Educational and Administrative Demonstration Schools (Leads)
program. Leichner requested that Superintendent Crew explain his
vision of teachers’ role in the school. Dr. Crew said he
envisioned the concept where principals would work with
committees of teachers through collaborative efforts.
Regarding
Media Specialists Week, Leichner told the School Board he spoke
as someone who is certified as a Media Specialist. Leichner
said the Media Menter is supposedly the hub of the school
through which everything filters. “Unfortunately, too many
media centers are being used for classrooms. We need more
schools built and we need to support the Class Size
Amendment,” said Leichner.
