Philadelphia—Delegates from
around the country gathered in the birthplace of American democracy
to celebrate the National Education Association’s (NEA) 150th
Anniversary during their annual representative assembly. Nineteen
UTD members joined over 10,000 other delegates to debate and vote on
issues that effect public education, civil & human rights, health
care and other topics of importance. They also voted for NEA
directors and constitutional amendments.
In addition, delegates heard from
presidential candidates, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi the 2007
National Teacher and ESP of the Year, actor Richard Dreyfuss (Mr.
Holland’s Opus) and many others.
