Jewish Educators Labor Caucus

Who are we?
Welcome to the Jewish Educators Labor Caucus (JELC). As an affiliate of the United Teachers of Dade and the National Jewish Labor Committee, the JELC works to foster a better understanding of the Jewish experience in the American labor movement.

Further, the JELC seeks to celebrate the rich diversity of Dade's multicultural community and improve communication among all groups through education.

The JELC is involved in community and school projects and programs such as an annual toy drive for needy children, tours and visits to historical sites, and speaker forums.  The JELC provides input to  the UTD on issues which are deemed important by the caucus members.

In our recent history, the JELC was actively involved with UTD in offering TEC courses pertaining to the Legislative Bill making January Florida Jewish History Month, honoring outstanding supportive individuals, such as Betsy Kaplan and Senator Gwen Margolis and working with Miriam Kassenoff and Anita Meinbach to develop information and curriculum to the MDCPS educators.

Activities
Regularly planned social events are scheduled throughout the year, often coinciding with various Jewish holidays. See the meeting dates for planned activities and times.

Meetings
The JELC holds regular monthly meetings which often include speakers or planned events. Meetings are held at 5:00 p.m. on the first Monday of every month at the UTD Offices, 2200 Biscayne Blvd., Miami, Florida (unless otherwise specified.)
